Results of pilot programme

A pilot was run in 2006 for 12 people. Participants faced a variety of acute personal problems including:
suicidal depression, uncontrollable anger, addiction, fear and anxiety, poor health, unemployment, homelessness and post traumatic stress.

What has emerged as a through the programme is a story of extraordinary personal transformation, as evidenced by the following graph and subsequent statements before and after the 2007 programme.

2. Use of medication / Substances

3. Ability to deal with major issues

Clients were asked to list the biggest issues facing them prior to going on the programme. For each issue they were asked how equipped they felt to tackle them before going on the programme and then after completing the programme. They were asked to grade their level of ability to cope from 1 to 10, 1 being unable to cope and 10 being able to address the issue confidently. This graph shows how the responses changed as a result of following the programme.

 A significant shift in confidence to cope with difficult issues is evident here with 7 clients reporting their pre programme confidence rating at the lowest level of 1, in contrast to the post programme time where 10 is the most popular verdict. The major issues cited by clients were:

  • Drink abuse
  • Drug abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Abandonment
  • Grief
  • Isolation
  • Lack of work

 

4. Interpersonal Relationships

On a scale of 1 to 10 clients were asked to grade their relationships with family, friends, colleagues and helpers prior to coming on the programme. They were then asked to grade their responses to the same questions having completed the programme. 1 is very poor and 10 is very good.
